KISIMA Community Library
Rafikistry, Kamiti Road, Nairobi
In many communities, girls grow up facing silent limitations whether it’s lack of access to information, limited opportunities to lead, or not having spaces where their voice is welcomed and respected. Girls Library Day opens the doors to something different.
At the Rafikistry KISIMA Community Library, we’ve seen it firsthand: when you give a girl space to learn, reflect, and express herself, you don’t just shape her future you shape the future of her community. That’s why Girls Library Day exists. It’s a day designed just for the girls who walk through our library a day of being seen, being heard, and being celebrated.
What Makes This Day So Important?
Access to Information = Power Girls deserve access to knowledge that helps them understand their rights, navigate life, and unlock their potential. Whether it’s through books, conversations, or creative exploration knowledge fuels confidence.
Space to Speak Girls need safe, affirming environments where they can share, question, and discover without fear or judgment. Girls Library Day makes space for that voice to grow stronger.
Confidence & Community By being part of a community that values their ideas, stories, and dreams, girls begin to build the self-belief needed to take up space in the world boldly and proudly.
Expression & Exploration Through reading circles, creative journaling, art activities, and guided conversations, we nurture imagination and identity letting every girl know that who she is, and what she thinks, truly matters.
Why We Keep Showing Up for Girls
Because we believe that empowered girls empower the world. And because libraries aren’t just buildings filled with books they’re spaces filled with possibility. Girls Library Day is one of the ways we open that possibility wide.
No pressure. No performance. Just presence. One girl. One day. One empowered step at a time.
